## Define Average

__Definition__

An **Average** is representation of a group in a single value.

To find an average of a group :-
**Step 1 = **Sum all the observations of the given group.
**Step 2 = **Divide the sum(of step 1) by the number of observations of the given group.

Above steps give formula for finding Average :
**Average = (Sum of Observations) ÷ (Number of Observations)
= ^{Sum of Observations}/_{Number of Observations}**

Sum of observations = 10 + 20 + 30 + 40 = 100

Number of observations = 4

Average of given numbers = sum of observations / number of observations

= 100 / 4 = 25

Average of First Five Natural Numbers = sum of first five natural numbers / number of natural numbers

= (1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5) / 5

= 15 / 5 = 3

= (20 + 35 + 42 + 13) / 4

= 110 / 4 = 27.5
