## Define Mode - find mode from given data

**Example 2 - ** Find the mode of the given set of observations 1, 2, 6, 3, 1, 5, 2, 6, 1, 3, 5, 2, 3, 6, 3, 6, 1, 6

**Answer -** Unlike example 1, its difficult to count how many times the observations have occurred, so let's first put this into ascending order and we get;

1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 5, 5, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6

Now Let's count how many times each observation has occurred:

1 = 4 times

2 = 3 times

3 = 4 times

5 = 2 times

6 = 5 times

From the above we can conclude that 6 has most frequently occurred.

**Mode** of given set of observation = 6

**Definition:**Mode helps in identifying, which observation occurs the most among the set of observations.

**Let's try the following examples:**

**Example 1 - ** Find the mode of the given set of observations 1,1,1,2,2,2,2,3,3,3,4,4

**Answer - ** Let's count how many times each observation has occurred:

1 = 3 times

2 = 4 times

3 = 3 times

4 = 2 times

From the above we can conclude that 2 has occurred the most.

**Mode** of given set of observation = 2

Now Let's count how many times each observation has occurred:

1 = 4 times

2 = 3 times

3 = 4 times

5 = 2 times
