## Number Expansion

**Following examples will help you learn how to convert numbers into Expanded Form.**

**Example 1 = **Write 12 into expanded form.
**Answer = **The proceed is as :-

= 12

= 10 + 2 (because here, 1 is at tens place and 2 is at one's place)

= (1 × 10) + 2

**Example 2 = **Write 78 into expanded form.
**Answer = **The proceed is as :-

= 78

= 70 + 8 (because here, 7 is at tens place and 8 is at one's place)

= (7 × 10) + 8

**Example 3 = **Write 635 into expanded form.
**Answer = **The proceed is as :-

= 635

= 600 + 30 + 5 (because digit 6 is at hundred place, digit 3 is at tens place & digit 5 at one's place)

= (6 × 100) + (3 × 10) + 5

**Example 4 = **Write 9286 into expanded form.
**Answer = **The proceed is as :-

= 9236

= 9000 + 200 + 30 + 6 (because digit 9 is at thousand place, digit 2 at hundred place, digit 3 at tens place & digit 6 at one's place)

= (9 × 1000) + (2 × 100) + (3 × 10) + 6
